Inside Keanu Reeves’ Heartache – Daughter’s Tragic Death & Girlfriend’s Crash
Tragically, after losing his love in 2001, had to deal with tragedy for a decade.
After their daughter Ava Archer Syme-Reeves was stillborn on Christmas Eve of 1999, only eight months into Jennifer’s pregnancy, Keanu and Jennifer had already endured enough suffering.
Keanu remembers “instantly falling in love” with the actress after only having known her for a year. Sadly, the couple’s marriage crumbled a few weeks after their child died.
Two years later, Jennifer was killed in a horrific vehicle accident after she smashed her Jeep into a line of parked cars while driving drunk after attending a party with goth rock singer Marilyn Manson.
She was flung from the seat and passed away immediately.
According to insiders, Keanu struggled to deal with the loss and found it “very, extremely difficult to cope with her passing.”
Since then, he has used the portrayal of his troubled 2014 character John Wick as a way to express his sadness.
“I believed it to be one of the pillars of the position. I adore his sorrow,” he remarked. “I can identify with that, and I don’t believe you ever get over it.
“Loss and grief never go away.”
When Jennifer and Ava passed away in the early 2000s, Keanu took care of his sister Kim, who had leukaemia, a blood malignancy that was fatal.
You know, she was always there for me. At the height of his acting career, he took on the role of her at-home nurse and promised to be there for her always.
Fortunately, Kim recovered from her illness, and she and Keanu founded a foundation to aid people with cancer. Keanu decided not to attach his name to the organisation, though.
Previous to that, his co-star and best friend River Phoenix passed away from an overdose in 1993.
The actor who is the brother of Joaquin, who plays the Joker, fainted after ingesting a “speedball,” a drug mix of cocaine and morphine.
River and Keanu shared a special bond, and in an interview, River referred to Keanu as his “brother.” I’ve always loved you, River, Keanu retorted. I don’t have many friends, but River is my best one.
Keanu’s Speed co-star Sandra Bullock had admitted that he’d been hiding “huge pain” at the time of River’s passing.
Even though he doesn’t show it, I believe Keanu has been through a lot, she remarked. He conceals deep suffering.
