Earlier this year, designer Jamie Norris debuted a collection of digitally handmade lighting that captivated audiences with its extremely elegant and sophisticated silhouettes. The descriptor “digitally handmade” may sound like a contradiction, however, this term arises as designers continue to innovate the design process. In Norris’ case, the lighting is digitally handmade because it “combines traditional handcrafting with digital technology and machinery.” This allows the designer to create a limited number of products (or even one-of pieces), which brings the value up.

With an eye on reducing waste, the creative utilized a special “bio-degradable polymer that includes waste oyster and scallop shells.” This also contributes to a unique texture for the lighting designs.
