On December 18, 1978, Chad C. Brown was born in Mechanicville, New York.

After graduating from Cornell University and working as an intern for Hall of Fame horse trainer Shug McGaughey, he changed his mind and decided that he would rather coach horses than become a veterinarian.

Following his time working with Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel, he made the decision to launch his own horse racing business in 2007.

Only four years later, according to his America’s Best Racing bio, Brown “won his first Grade 1 victory, trained his first champion, Stacelita, winner of the Beverly D., and ended 16th nationally with $5.2 million in purse money.”

How much money has Brown made?

Brown received the Eclipse Awards for Outstanding Trainer after four victories in a row, from 2016 to 2019.

America’s Best Racing revealed that the 43-year-old had so far earned $19,833,835 in 2022 alone.

However, he has amassed a staggering $238,343,984 in earnings throughout the course of his lifetime.

What led to his arrest?

The distinguished horse trainer was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 17, at his residence in Saratoga Springs, New York.

According to WNYT, he allegedly choked a woman, threw her out of his home, and pushed her down the stairs before being charged with domestic violence.

Brown has been charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor, according to Saratoga Springs Police.

On Thursday, August 18, Judge Francine Vero ordered his bail at $2,000.

WNYT reports that Brown says he acted in self-defense after the victim broke into his home in the middle of the night.

The Judge replied to Brown’s accusation, “This court is not in the business of accusing domestic violence victims.”

The victim, who apparently works at the Saratoga Race Course, has received a protective order.

Brown will have to appear before Judge Vero on September 2, per Saratoga Springs City Court.
