Emilia Clarke, star of “Game of Thrones,” has received an apology from the CEO of an Australian television network. The television executive has reportedly issued an apology for referring to Emilia Clarke as a “short, dumpy girl,” according to Fox News.

According to the Australian news source Crikey, Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany allegedly made the obscene comments to the audience on Tuesday at the Sydney, Australia premiere of “House of the Dragon,” the HBO show’s spinoff series.

The Australian television producer shared his views surrounding a pivotal scene in the ‘Game of Thrones’ opening episode as well as how he was late to start watching the popular series, in which Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen.

“‘I was like, ‘What’s this show with the short, dumpy girl walking into the fire?'” he said”, according to Crikey. The outlet reported that Delany’s comment was poorly received by the audience. “It felt like he was expecting us to laugh along, but people in the room were obviously shocked by it,” an attendee told Crikey.

Another attendee said, “There was a bit of a gasp.”Throughout its eight-season run, ‘Games of Thrones’ was broadcast on Foxtel in Australia.

The premiere episode of the prequel series will also air on Foxtel on August 21, the day it is made available worldwide.

After Delany’s insult received reaction, a Foxtel Group official apologized and clarified his remarks. The statement from the business, which The Wrap was able to receive, said, “The Foxtel Group apologize if his statements were misunderstood and caused any offense.”

“The idea was to express that for him, ‘Game of Thrones’ was something extremely different for television in 2011, and that Emilia Clarke moved from being somewhat unknown to one of the most recognizable and most loved actors in television and film,” the business continued.
