Oklahoma to receive 31,500 doses of J&J COVID-19 vaccine during first shipment, officials say


Authorities with the Oklahoma State Department of Health held a news conference Monday to discuss and answer questions about updates on COVID-19 vaccine distribution.During the news conference, they said Oklahoma will receive 31,500 doses of the newly approved Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine during the first shipment. They added that the shipment is expected to arrive later this week, and the first doses will be administered shortly after.“The approval of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for emergency use provides an exciting opportunity for our state as we continue to get Oklahomans vaccinated as quickly and efficiently as possible,” Oklahoma Health Commissioner Lance Frye said shortly after Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine was granted emergency use authorization. “This vaccine, like the previously approved Pfizer and Moderna options, is safe to use and will protect Oklahomans from severe cases of COVID-19. It has gone through extensive testing that has shown it will limit hospitalizations and prevent deaths from COVID-19.”
