“As the twig grows, so grows the tree (Early influences have a permanent effect).”

When a child does not receive the proper care and support, which he needs most in the earliest stages of life, he cannot grow to his full potential. Several studies have claimed that a child who receives proper attention and care in the early years of life develops a higher IQ level in comparison to those who simply graduate from high school.

Positive parenting in the early years creates a positive and healthy brain that protects the kid from negative influences and unsocial behavior. For a child, his/her parent is considered as the first teacher and remains throughout their life.

Several children fail to learn ethics and virtues, despite having the best schooling, which brings down their growth and development. It is seen that parental engagement creates a positive impact on a child’s development, such as improvement in social skills, better learning at school, cooperation with teachers and peers, and overall personal growth with high aplomb.

A child’s psychology and social development shape according to the lifestyle of the parents. In Indian families, a child spends most of the time with his/her parents. S/he learns from their behavior, which reflects in his/her actions.

Moreover, it is reported that when parents help their child with homework or even emphasize the importance of education, they can bring out the best during their growing period. It is their good upbringing that helps them succeed in the future. To sum-up, parents are the best teachers of every child.

Alongside the home, school is another place where a child learns how to behave appropriately. Schools with high social capital make sure a favorable classroom ambiance which helps the child to learn new lessons every day. This effective partnership between parents and schools greatly supports children’s learning and prepares them for a better future. Parental support helps a child to be positive, healthy, and competitive in the long run.

A child tends to honor what his/her parents do rather than what they say. Voluntarily or involuntarily, they follow their parents in most of the activities and sometimes even treat them as their role models.

They have a very strong perception of them and even justify their shortcomings while discussing them with friends and relatives. The good, as well as bad attributes of parents, gradually get transferred in children. Therefore, the environment at home should be very clean and healthy.

Sometimes, the weak financial conditions of a family may also hamper the growth and learning of a child. In a society where there is a huge lifestyle difference between the haves and have nots, some students fall prey to inferiority complexes and consider themselves unfortunate. In such a scenario, it is the guidance and support of the parents that protect them from a negative mindset and motivate them to fight all the odds in life.

To learn more about ones’ child, the parent needs to have more conversations with them instead of only monitoring their activities. And, for his/her better future, the parent must encourage the child to be responsible and work independently.
