How To Program And Automate Your Home?

Automate Your Home

Smart homes allow you to forget about many technical aspects of everyday life and focus on other tasks, work without problems at home or provide free time for family or leisure. There are ready-made solutions on the market and there are systems that allow you to translate any creative idea into an automated process.

The user can independently program the reaction of the system components to emerging events or use an already created library. Indispensable elements in the automation process are high-speed actuators that provide additional safety and speed of movement. Renowned manufacturers such as Progressive automations, offer a wide range of actuators to suit any application.

What can be programmed and automated?

Home automation is not just a narrowly focused system that can demonstrate just one trick. The functionality and possibilities of this action are almost endless. It’s hard to believe, but an improved operating system will be able to command the entire house. It is possible to program and automate the system of lighting, security, water supply, ventilation, support of a certain microclimate in the room.

Next comes a separate direction like programming household appliances, which would start their work at a certain time – the vacuum cleaner cleans, the washing machine works, the chicken is sealed in the oven. And you can even tell the fridge that you’re out of ice. Then he will be able to increase the volume of its production.

And you can automate some of your furniture separately so that the curtains open either according to the sensor readings or by voice command so that the sofa changes its position with the help of remote control by order or opens its secret doors so that a minibar or music centre is available to you.

How can you program?

Programming is a tricky process and for this, as well as for everything, you need to contact specialists. To program your house, you will have to create something like the following architecture:

  • Net. The simplest is Wi-Fi. You can find Ethernet options for almost any IoT gadget
  • Broker system. Raspberry PI or any other computer for handling MQTT messages and other protocols.
  • Storage System. This is any sufficiently capacious disk, the volume of which is limited only by your imagination.

If you are going to manage your home from a mobile phone, then you need an external IP address with a domain and Let’s Encrypt.

How can you automate?

For everything to work according to a well-coordinated scenario, the controller is responsible. It manages automation scenarios and ensures the interaction of all devices. All information for him throughout your home is collected by sensors installed in all strategic places.

As soon as this information is received by the controller, it starts issuing commands to the actuators. Well, for example, the sensors showed that the level of oxygen decreased in the room. He sends this information to the controller, the controller commands the curtains to open first, then the window.

Fortunately, today, due to the interest of users in the implementation of certain elements of Home Automation in homes, manufacturers are tirelessly developing and increasing the production of systems of varying complexity – from full-fledged boxed solutions using AI to kits based on microcontrollers that allow you to quickly solve applied problems of varying complexity.

Want Start-Up Loans for Business fast? Time to Plan Business Loan Application

Loans for Business

Every entrepreneur dreams of having a successful business in the future. When starting a business, various things need to be considered. From registering the company to raising funds is not as easy as it seems. That’s why many owners look for professional assurance to make better strategies for starting the venture and to manage their loan process.

Without finance, no business can meet its objectives; that’s why start up loans for businesses are made to help the entrepreneurs. In this post, you can find the tricks to improve your commercial loan application, which will result in faster loan approval.

Tip 1: Build a Plan

Firstly, it’s essential to have a strong-actionable plan for raising the business loan. Just saying to a lender that they need some amount of money will not help at all. You need to make the lenders understand for what purpose you need the business loan. If looking for startup business loans, then make sure to let lenders know how your business is going to help society or why your services or products are important for customers to use.

Tip 2: Select a Realistic Borrowing Amount

Now, when deciding the loan amount for your startup venture, ensure you are demanding something which is possible for the lenders. You should not ask too much amount or even too little. Know first how much money you have and how much you need. Also, when mentioning the amount of loan, then be sure that you can pay it back timely and your business has a high chance of earning profits

Tip 3: Find The Right Type of Loan

Once you are sure about the reason for the loan and the amount of loan, it’s time to find the right type of loan from the right type of lenders. Now, every loan is right; however, the loan may not be suitable for all borrowers. Hence, you need to understand which startup business loan will work best in your case and which lender is going to give you that loan. There are numerous small business funding options such as short-term loans, instalment loan types, line of credit, invoice factoring, merchant cash advance, and much more.

Tip 4: Understand the Loan Process

When looking for the right type of loan, then another thing which you should keep in your mind is the loan process. Every loan has a different requirement, so sometimes, the loan you think fits your needs doesn’t match your requirements. Hence, tip 3 and tip 4 are connected, so consider the loan process in your account.

Tip 5: Maintain the Business Credit Score

In every kind of loan, every lender will check your credit score. Therefore, if you have a business loan plan, then for at least 6 months before you seek the loan, start maintaining your credit score as it will help you out later on.

Tip 6: Don’t Ignore Social Media

Now the banking system has changed a lot. The perspective of the lenders has changed when granting the loan to the customers. They are helping the customers by providing the right information through social media and various other platforms. Therefore, ensure not to ignore the banks’ social media accounts, from where you will learn about the recent updates in the interest rates and much more.

Final Outcome

If you follow the above practical tips, then you can get quick loan approval, and you will have the money timely for starting your dream!

Why Learning Programming is The Best Option?

Learning Programming

Accelerating technological development is a hallmark of the 21st century. No matter where you look, everything we use has to do with technology. From the alarm clock of a mobile phone that wakes up in the morning to a coffee maker that brews coffee with the touch of a button, to a smartphone that makes life easier and the Internet, we all make full use of some technology.

Behind almost everything you see on the internet (every word, image, figure, layout, etc.) is someone who has programmed us to look like this. So why learn to program? Here is a list of several reasons.

1. It guarantees you a job

We live in the era of technology, and the growth of technology is not over yet. As the use of technical devices increases year by year, there is always a high demand for programmers.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has shown that within the last decade, computer programming jobs will be available primarily to individuals outside the United States. This is because companies are considering hiring employees around the world at low wages.

However, jobs such as software development, web development, and computer systems analysts show good career prospects for the next decade. Their estimated growth rate is 9% up to 21% for software development jobs.

2. No 4-year degree is required

One way to become a programmer is to get a degree in computer science, but you can become a programmer without getting a degree. Many programming jobs do not require a degree in computer science or IT.

Instead, they are interested in your programming skills. This means that the degree makes sense and will open many doors for you, but it is not mandatory because you got online experts like Tangolearn for you to help in choosing online courses to learn to program like C plus, java, etc.

However, besides a degree, other options can help you find a job. For example, if you have a diploma in software development or cyber security, it certainly looks good in the eyes of your recruiting manager. The same applies to certificates. If your resume contains related certificate programs such as network security management, it will make a good impression along with your skills.

3. Can work from home

Employees can often work from home because work only requires a computer with an internet connection. That said, it depends on company policy, but many offer such options. Moreover, when you work as a freelancer, your work is always done remotely.

This advantage makes programming a coveted task for anyone who wants to balance work and family life and feel like they’re wasting valuable time commuting otherwise. You can also apply for jobs nationwide without worrying about moving or office distance.

4. You can create whatever you like

Computer programming, unlike other professions, offers the opportunity to digitize ideas. This idea might contain the app you wanted to create and it would be viral when you launched the app.

However, creating an app is not an easy task because it is laborious, time-consuming, and expensive. In other scenarios, you pay the developer to realize your plans and ideas, but as a programmer, you save money and develop your app the way you want.

In particular, there is honesty because no one can implement the idea exactly as you imagined.

5. Possibility of high income

Money can be the motivation for most jobs, and programming is no exception. Most jobs you can get with your programming skills tend to have above-average salaries but if you choose to take c++ online course you can show you certificate to get some hike in your earnings as well. Programmer salaries vary by state and job type, but the average salary for computer programmers is $ 84,280 and the average salary for software developers is $ 103,620.

6. Understand how the software works

When using a computer, use the mouse and keyboard to operate the computer, but actually that the program is running in the background, Don’t stop and think. Programming helps you become familiar with and understand software, programs, devices, and websites. This proficiency will enable you to quickly identify and adopt new technology tools.

7. It teaches you patience

Learning computer programming will teach you how to look at a problem in the light of a solution. For every problem you may face, start brainstorming how to solve it. The fruitful results of brainstorming and problem-solving, no matter how difficult, give us a positive perspective and empowerment to tackle the problem. You decide to find a way to find a solution, and in this way, you become a solution-minded person.

8. Learn how to combine technical skills and creativity

Not all industries offer the opportunity to use both technical and creative skills as programmers do. This is possible due to the nature of the activity. Focuses on problem identification and resolution. However, the problems to be solved are not always the same, so you will have to solve them and find new solutions each time. This makes programming a very rewarding and exciting career.

9. Develop problem-solving skills

In the world of programming, it is often said that programming is all about solving problems, and computer programs need to solve problems for us. Learning coding is more or less coding, deciding how to tackle problems that arise during coding, and finding solutions to them. The more you can solve these problems, the more practical they will be. You can start applying this problem-solving idea not only to coding but to various aspects of your professional life.

The body’s immune system is dependent on sleep for proper function. Increased inflammation can lead to the development and progression of chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and arthritis, so we need adequate amounts of sleep for optimal health.

7-8 hours of sleep is sufficient for an individual.

2. Reduced Risk Of Heart Disease

One study showed that getting less than 6 hours of sleep per night increased the risk of arterial plaque by almost 30%. Decrease in diabetes risk studies show that getting inadequate amounts of sleep results in decreased insulin sensitivity, which puts you at a higher risk for diabetes.

3. Reduces Depression Risk

People suffering from depression have a lower chance to receive sufficient sleep. Inadequate sleep can contribute to or even cause depression because it is associated with decreased levels of certain neurotransmitters that regulate mood.  People who sleep less than 5 hours per night are twice as likely to develop depression as those who get 8 hours. A lack of sleep also makes you 2 times more likely to commit suicide.

4. Enhanced Memory & Problem- Solving Abilities

Neuroscientists at the University of California, Berkeley found that sleep helps us to consolidate memories, which explains why you might feel like you are “in a fog” when you’re sleep-deprived.

5. Decrease In Appetite

A lack of sleep can cause fatigue and increase stress hormones that interfere with the body’s ability to process glucose properly. This results in an intense craving for carbohydrates that can lead to weight gain if not curbed by proper nutrition. Increase in pain tolerance, lack of sleep decreases your body’s ability to deal with pain and can make even the smallest injuries feel worse than they really are.

6. Increased Risk For Stroke

Getting less than the recommended 6+ hours of sleep increases your chances of having a stroke by 50%. Reduction in dermatitis decreases skin hydration and dryness can cause dermatitis, eczema, and other skin conditions. Those who get less than 6 hours of sleep per night have a higher mortality rate due to all causes, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and accidents. Decrease in brain function, according to a study published by the National Institute of Health, the brain is not capable of functioning at full capacity without a sufficient amount of sleep. And losing one night’s sleep can lead to cognitive impairment on the following day.

8. Increased Risk For Alzheimer’s Disease

Research from Sweden has linked regular “microsleep” bursts during the day to cognitive impairment and an increased risk for developing Alzheimer’s Disease. Decreased effectiveness at work, according to a study done by the National Sleep Foundation, sleep-deprived employees are less productive, more irritable, and have trouble getting along with others.

9. Delays Aging Process

Inadequate amounts of sleep can suppress the immune system which makes you more likely to get sick, especially as you age. When you feel sick more often it is difficult to stay active and this can lead to weight gain and osteoporosis. Increased risk of cancer, a study by the University found that those who do not get enough sleep are at an increased risk for cancer.

10. Decreased Energy Levels

Lack of sleep is associated with decreased levels of certain hormones that increase energy. Increased pain sensitivity, when you are tired, it becomes difficult to ignore the pain from injuries and other discomforts.

11. Increase In Stress

Not enough sleep will make you feel tired, cranky, and out of control, which can make you more susceptible to stress. According to research from Michigan State University, a lack of sleep also makes people more susceptible to catching colds and other illnesses because stress lowers immune function. Not sleeping properly can be the effects of sagging in matters.

12. Increased Risk Of Stroke

A study of over 1,000 men and women found that those who got less than 6 hours of sleep per night were 3 times more likely to have a stroke than those who averaged 7-8 hours. Decreased effectiveness at work, the National Sleep Foundation reports that sleep-deprived workers are more likely to make mistakes, take longer to complete tasks, make errors, and have difficulty functioning in highly stressful situations. Also at a higher risk for developing stomach ulcers.

13. Decrease In Muscle Mass And Strength

Lack of sleep is associated with increased levels of stress hormones that decrease protein synthesis which causes a drop in muscle mass and strength. Increase in heart problems, a study of almost 70,000 women found that those who slept less than 5 hours per night had a 22% increased risk of developing heart disease. Decrease in bone density, over the course of a lifetime, long term lack of sleep has been associated with an increased risk for fractures and osteoporosis.

14. Increased Testosterone Levels

Those who get less than 6 hours of sleep show decreased levels of testosterone. And for men and women both, more testosterone means an increase in muscle mass, lower cholesterol, reduced risk for prostate cancer and osteoporosis.

Conclusion

There have been times when we wake up from an exhausting night, and everything appears boring, dull, unpleasant, or boring. However, we’ve likely been through those times when we awake with a positive attitude and a smile, and a sense of optimism. A recent Italian study suggests that our perception regarding the universe around us is influenced a lot by how well we’re sleeping.

The Causes Of Mattress Sagging And How Can You Avoid It?

Causes Of Mattress Sagging

A Saggy Mattress And Its Signs

The first sign of an old mattress is a saggy mattress. There are some temporary fixes that you can use to extend the life of your mattress. You may want to check the slats on your frame. If they’re warped, you may need to replace them. If this isn’t an option, you can place plywood between the box spring and your mattress base. If you don’t have plywood handy, you can purchase an extra set.

You can check the balance of your mattress every month to see if there are any uneven areas. You can also flip it once every six months. You will put the bottom side up and the top side down when you flip it. This will evenly distribute the weight on the mattress and help prevent sagging in those areas. If you can’t reverse the mattress, you should always turn it over to the top side. You can also use a bunkie board to fix your mattress. A bunkie board is a wooden or plyboard made base for your bed.

If you can’t get your mattress to stay level, try placing pillows in the depressed areas. You may even want to use small pillows in certain regions. You can also set a sheet of plywood under the mattress to help it stay flat. Ensure that the plywood you use is in good condition and can be replaced if necessary. Then, rotate the bed again every few weeks. This will help even out the mattress and make it more comfortable for you.

The Causes Of A Saggy Mattress

A Couple That Sleeps Together

The first cause of a sagging mattress is a couple that sleeps together. This creates a situation where both people concentrate their weight on the same spot. This is not healthy for a mattress. A sagging mattress is caused by inadequate support. This can come from poor boxsprings and bed frames. A sagging mattress is usually not easy to detect. However, you can quickly correct this by using some simple tips.

A Poor Bed Foundation

The second cause of a sagging mattress is a poor foundation or bed frame. The bed frame or foundation may have become weakened, and the mattress is beginning to sag. You should check these items to ensure that they are not the source of the sagging mattress. If they are not the cause, contact a foundation or frame company to discuss repairs. There are many solutions available to fix a sagging mattress.

Heavy Weight

Another cause of a sagging mattress is a heavyweight. If you are overweight and sleep on a queen-size bed, you may sink into it at one point. This will lead to the mattress sagging. As a result, you may experience general aches and pains. So, there are a few things that you can do to prevent this from happening. You can try these tips and avoid the sagging of your mattress by choosing a good one.

The Bed Frame

When you have a sagging mattress, the bedframe is the most significant contributor. Too much weight can cause it to lose its shape. The best way to fix this problem is to rotate the mattress. If you have a sagging bed frame, it is essential to replace it as soon as possible. Even if only the structure is affected, a sagging mattress will likely be more uncomfortable than a saggy one.

Tips To Avoid Mattress Sagging

Add A Plywood Base:

You can prevent mattresses from sagging by adding a plywood base. If yours is already sagging, you can also add a mattress topper or pad to the bed frame. These solutions will give you more support and stability on your mattress. In extreme cases, you might have to replace your old mattress and get a new one. But these tips should help you avoid the sagging of your mattress.

Use A Ruler To Check For Flatness:

If you are noticing sagging, you should take action immediately. There are several things you can do. First, try to fix the mattress using a ruler to check for flatness. If it shows signs of sagging, there is a deep angle that needs to be fixed. Second, try to sleep on different spots in the bed to avoid the sagging of the mattress. Third, ensure your bed frame has adequate centre support to prevent sagging.

Rotate Your Mattress:

Another way to prevent sagging is by rotating your mattress. The sagging of a mattress is caused by several factors, including the quality of the materials used in its construction. The materials used in a mattress should be of high quality. Moreover, the materials used for the cover should be of high quality. A mite-proof mattress cover should be used for mattresses, as mites can live in them.

Inspect Your Mattress Every Month:

Inspect your mattress at least once a month to avoid sagging. Using a ruler, check the mattress’s flatness. It would help if you fixed any deep angles. Lastly, it is essential to rotate your bed once in a while to avoid the sagging of a pillow. This will help prevent the sagging of a mattress. The best way to prevent sagging is to sleep on different bed parts to avoid accumulating pressure in the centre of your body.

Get A Mattress With A Warranty:

The best way to avoid the sagging of a memory foam mattress is to purchase a mattress with a warranty. The warranty will cover the structural defects of your mattress. The manufacturer will not repair it if the sagging is less than an inch thick, but they will fix it if you pay for a warranty. It is also essential to check the centre support of the bed.

In Conclusion

Whether you’re having a hard time falling asleep or waking up stiff and sore after a sleepless night, your mattress might need replacement. There are several reasons you might need to replace your old mattress. Stress or poor sleep hygiene may be to blame, and it’s not uncommon to experience muscle pain or discomfort on a lousy mattress. If you find yourself tossing and turning in the middle of the night, you should consider replacing your mattress.

If your mattress is causing you pain, you may need to replace it. A new mattress is more comfortable and will last longer than your old one. According to Consumer Reports, mattresses usually last from seven to ten years. Although some manufacturers offer a twenty-year warranty, these warranties are only for parts or artistry, not overall comfort. It is a good idea to check your mattress regularly and purchase a new one when necessary.

Short description of bodybuilding training

bodybuilding training

Bodybuilding Training: The hunt for the best approach or method to gaining muscles has been continuing for quite some time. If you follow the general rules, concepts, and techniques, you will get the desired outcome in a short period of time.

The anatomical theory of the human body and muscles

It is critical to understand the structure of each muscle group before beginning a tough training regimen. You may pick and choose the most effective workouts for you while eliminating the ones that are not. Again, the theory is very important. Keep reading and researching until you feel that you have a robust understanding of what you do. It is impossible to grow a strong physique if you do not grasp the fundamental principles of how muscles work.

The bodybuilding school of thought and classification of exercises

This is only one of many crucial aspects that have an impact on the ultimate outcome. So, let’s take a closer look at this problem. This theory is concerned with the classification of different muscles according to their kind and the required training criteria.

The essential exercises are important since they provide the largest amount of tension on the target muscles. The intensity of the fundamental exercise is significantly higher than that of the supplementary exercises. For this, we recommend you visit www.organicsproutedflour.net to learn more about your muscles and bodybuilding thought.

Isolating exercises in which only one muscle group is loaded or only one joint engaged.

Pressing exercises are those that are done from the center of the body and use big weights.

Pulling exercises are those in which one draws weights to the body towards the center.

Number of reps per exercise

A few reps are a fantastic approach to putting the most pressure on the muscle in the shortest amount of time. Exercises in this area can be performed with weights near your maximal weight capacity. This maximal weight load can result in a considerable increase in strength. When under weight training, they have a tendency to expand. They get bigger as the muscles develop over time.

A lot of reps per exercise allow for greater muscle endurance over a longer length of time. This results in an increase in the number of mitochondria, which are the energy-producing structures found in the muscles and is beneficial. They are in charge of boosting one’s ability to endure. They also help you lose weight.

It is preferable to train fewer than to overtrain.

Despite the fact that a harsh training regimen may appear to be beneficial, it can easily lead to overtraining in a bodybuilder or any other athlete. In terms of load, there is a significant gap between ideal and maximal training regimens. It often happens that athletes sometimes concentrate on strategies to boost muscular growth while neglecting rest and recovery.

If, after training, you sit in one place for more than 5-10 minutes as you strengthen yourself before leaving means you may have given too much exercise for your body. Despite the fact that leisure and relaxation are not often discussed, they are frequently the most significant factors in building muscle growth.

Sub training is a good way to keep your training regime going. The level of intensity is not the essential factor. Exercise on a regular basis is significantly more vital.

Do you still believe that training should be harsh without breaking a sweat? Without a doubt, this is not the best way, and in reality, it is only harmful. Suppose you want to maximize your muscle-building potential. In that case, you need to schedule your training so that you may recuperate between sessions and be ready to continue working according to the plan.

Patreon suspends Come Back Alive page for Ukrainian army donations

Ukrainian servicemen stand on the north of Kyiv on February 24, 2022. – Russian and Ukrainian forces are battling for control of an airbase on the northern outskirts of Kyiv, a senior Ukrainian officer said on February 24, 2022, as dozens of attack helicopters swooped on the area.

Daniel Leal | AFP | Getty Images

Patreon, a start-up whose website allows people to give money to individuals and groups, said Thursday that it had suspended the fundraising campaign that a nonprofit organization was using to collect donations to distribute body armor, medical kits, and helmets to Ukrainian soldiers.

Come Back Alive is a charitable foundation established in 2014 and based in Kyiv. The organization last received money from its Patreon page in August, its director, Taras Chmut, told CNBC in an interview.

Chmut said it was receiving small amounts for several months. Then Russia invaded Ukraine late Wednesday, and over $300,000 rolled in, including many donations of less than $1,000.

But on Thursday people who attempted to visit the page simply saw the message “This page has been removed.”

Chmut said that’s what he saw when he tried to access account details and see about transferring money out to pay for equipment. He said that the group emailed Patreon and that the company said it was looking into the case.

But Patreon told CNBC that using the site to support the purchase of military equipment was banned.

“Patreon does not allow any campaigns involved in violence or purchasing of military equipment, regardless of their cause,” a company spokesperson told CNBC in an email. “We are investigating because of representations on their donation page for how the funds will be used. We have suspended the campaign in question while we investigate. If a page is ultimately removed our policy is to send the creator the remaining funds or refund all pledges.”

On Thursday Ukraine announced a mobilization effort to expand the country’s military forces.

But people who join might not be very well protected from harm.

“We have people dying because they don’t have body armor,” said Chmut, who said he previously had served in the country’s armed forces. The country is not rich, and the nonprofit has helped soldiers receive the equipment they need, he said.

Come Back Alive has also provided mobile surveillance systems, televisions and other equipment, according to its most recent annual report.

The group does have other ways of collecting donations — a bitcoin wallet code is listed on its website, and bitcoin donations have been pouring in — but the Patreon page is the most convenient way for foreigners to give, and many people have already used it, Chmut said.

“We have too much money here to lose it,” he said.

Sean Penn In Ukraine Filming Documentary During Russia’s Invasion – Hollywood Life

Sean Penn landed in Ukraine on the same day that the country was attacked by Russian forces!

Sean Penn, 61, is dedicated to his work. On Wednesday, Feb. 23, Russia launched a full-scale attack against Ukraine to prevent the country from joining NATO. As Hollywood stars continue to weigh in on the conflict from their homes in the United States, Sean has taken another approach and is currently in Ukraine — filming a documentary about the conflict with Russia!

One day after the attack began, The Office of The President of Ukraine announced that Sean had landed in Ukraine to document the current situation. In a statement obtained by Newsweek, the Ukrainian government said that they were “grateful” to the Milk actor for doing his part to help.

“The director specially came to Kyiv to record all the events that are currently happening in Ukraine and to tell the world the truth about Russia’s invasion of our country. Sean Penn is among those who support Ukraine in Ukraine today. Our country is grateful to him for such a show of courage and honesty,” the statement said.

The statement added, “Sean Penn is demonstrating bravery that many others have been lacking, in particular some Western politicians. The more people like that—true friends of Ukraine, who support the fight for freedom—the quicker we can stop this heinous invasion by Russia.”

The documentary, which is set to chronicle the invasion of Ukraine by Russia’s Vladimir Putin, 69, is being produced by VICE Studios. As fans of Sean know, he has been involved in several humanitarian efforts over the years. Following the 2010 earthquakes that rocked Haiti, Sean founded the non-profit organization CORE.

HollywoodLife reached out to a rep for Sean and, so far, we have not heard back.

Russia Batters Ukraine With Artillery Strikes as West Condemns Invasion

SLOVYANSK, Ukraine — The Russian military plunged into Ukraine by land, sea and air on Thursday, killing more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, and ominously touching off a pitched battle at the highly radioactive area around the Chernobyl nuclear reactor that melted down in 1986.

Day 1 of the first major land war in Europe in decades began before sunrise with the terrifying thud of artillery strikes on airports and military installations all over Ukraine. A senior Pentagon official said that three lines of Russian troops and military forces were moving swiftly toward Ukrainian cities — one heading south from Belarus toward Kyiv, the capital; another toward Kharkiv, in northeast Ukraine; and a third toward Kherson in the south, near Crimea. The forces were using missiles and long-range artillery, the official said.

By sunset, Russian special forces and airborne troops were pushing into the outskirts of Kyiv. While the ultimate goal of Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin, and his generals remained unclear, American officials assessed that the end game was likely the replacement of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government with a Russian-controlled puppet regime.

Late on Thursday evening, Mr. Zelensky remained in place as commander in chief, and Ukrainian forces, which officials said had shot down several Russian jets and a helicopter, were engaged in fierce battles all along a broad front line to maintain control over their country. In an address to the nation, which remained under a curfew, Mr. Zelensky said 137 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed.

The lethal realities spurred tens of thousands of Ukrainians to flee by car or bus toward the far-western part of the country, which was deemed safer, snarling the roads, and there were long lines at gas stations.

The day also ended with Russian forces in control of the facility at Chernobyl, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, though the condition of the plant and its nuclear waste storage facilities was unknown.

The invasion prompted an immediate outcry around the world and — to a lesser but still surprising extent — across Russia itself.

President Biden denounced Mr. Putin for launching a “brutal assault on the people of Ukraine,” and added, “Now he and his country will bear the consequences.”

He said the United States was freezing trillions of dollars in Russian assets, including the funds controlled by Russian elites and their families, and that it would restrict Russia’s access to high-tech imports, impairing their military and their industrial capacity.

He also said the U.S. would send more troops to Eastern European countries in the NATO alliance.

“This aggression cannot go unanswered,” Mr. Biden said. “If it did, the consequences for America would be much worse. America stands up to bullies. We stand up for freedom. This is who we are.”

In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the country would ban flights by Aeroflot, Russia’s flagship airline, and he vowed to expand sanctions, adding 100 companies, entities and rich oligarchs, as well as limiting exports to Russia of British technology.

The German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, called the Russian invasion a forcible attempt to shift European borders and “perhaps even to wipe an entire country off the world map” in a televised address to Germans.

As a result of the sanctions, the Russian stock market nose-dived, losing a third of its value, while the ruble fell to a record low exchange rate.

Some responses were more tepid. Brazil called for a peaceful solution that “takes into account the legitimate security interests of all parties involved.”

In China, which has developed close ties with Mr. Putin, Wang Yi, the foreign minister, repeated that his country believed that the territorial integrity of all countries should be respected, while noting the complexity of the Ukraine issue and Russia’s “legitimate” security concerns, according to Chinese state media.

In a somewhat troubling sign for Mr. Putin, thousands of Russians defied the rule stipulating that protests consist only of lone pickets, a measure Mr. Putin had pushed as he moved to undermine most opposition groups.

Chanting “No to war!”, people took to the streets from St. Petersburg to Siberia, in more than 50 cities overall, according to OVD Info, a rights group, which said that more than 1,700 protesters had been arrested nationwide.

Few Russian political or business leaders dared question the move, but some famous singers, theater directors and television personalities criticized the war, risking their access to state money and broadcasts.

Still, Mr. Putin was resolute. In a rambling early morning speech, he made clear that his ambitions extended beyond Ukraine and included upending the American-led world order. He denounced what he called the United States’ “empire of lies.” And he threatened severe consequences for any country that tried to interfere with him, ominously reminding the world that Russia “remains one of the most powerful nuclear states.”

The invasion rattled markets early in the day and sent oil prices soaring, at one point past $105 a barrel. Energy prices fell after Mr. Biden said the United States and other nations were considering a combined release of oil from strategic reserves, and the S&P 500 rallied to close with a small gain.

Among the most alarming reports of Thursday’s armed conflict came from the toxic marshes of the protective zone surrounding Chernobyl, the site of the worst nuclear accident in history; the shortest direct route from Belarus to Kyiv cuts through a portion of it.

By Thursday afternoon, “national guard troops responsible for protecting the storage unit for dangerous radioactive waste” were “putting up fierce resistance,” Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, said on Facebook, warning of a catastrophe if a shell struck it. Late in the day Ukraine reported that Russia had taken control of the facility.

In the end, the war appeared to be playing out exactly as the American intelligence community said it would when officials first warned about the threatening movement of Russian troops toward Ukraine’s borders last fall.

Over many months, the Russian military moved soldiers and heavy equipment in plain view of the world, surrounding Ukraine on three sides and drawing increasingly alarmed warnings from the White House about an imminent attack. All the while, Russian leaders including Mr. Putin adamantly denied having any such intention.

In his early morning speech Thursday, Mr. Putin confirmed what many, including Ukraine’s own leaders and much of the Russian populace, had for months refused to believe: that the Russian military was invading Ukraine.

“A decision was taken by me to carry out a special military action,” Mr. Putin announced.

It was an awkward, passive-voiced declaration of war, which nevertheless touched off a calamity that could shape the face of Europe for years to come. Almost as soon as Mr. Putin delivered his speech, the attack began.

Russia hit airports and military installations all over the country, shattering glass in nearby apartment buildings and jolting Ukrainian citizens even miles away into a terrifying new reality.

At least 18 military officials were killed in an attack outside the Black Sea city of Odessa, where amphibious commandos from the Russian Navy came ashore, according to Sergey Nazarov, an aide to Odessa’s mayor.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Washington, Oksana Markarova, said dozens of civilians had been killed, and pleaded with the world to provide more help.

At the United Nations Security Council, the United States proposed a resolution that would order Russian troops out of Ukraine immediately and unconditionally. The resolution, which will likely be voted on Friday, will almost certainly be vetoed by Russia. But approval by a large majority of the council’s other 14 members could reinforce Moscow’s global isolation.

Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said that the country was facing “a full-scale attack from multiple directions” but that it “continues to defend itself.”

Russian forces fired more than 160 missiles at targets around Ukraine, primarily short-range ballistic rockets, but also cruise missiles and rockets fired from the Black Sea, according to the senior Pentagon official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military assessments. As many as 75 Russian aircraft entered the fray, the official said.

The targets were primarily military: barracks, ammunition depots and air fields, the official said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that its forces had destroyed more than 70 military targets in Ukraine, including 11 airfields, three command points and a naval base. Russian forces also downed one helicopter and four Bayraktar TB2 drones, said Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, the ministry’s spokesman, speaking from Moscow. He said that Russia had lost one fighter jet because of a “piloting error.”

By Thursday evening Russian Armed Forces had reached the city of Kherson, located just south of the Crimean peninsula, and unblocked the North Crimean Canal, said a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense. For Russia it was a major piece of unfinished business, reversing a Ukrainian water blockade imposed after Russia seized the peninsula in 2014.

In total since the beginning of the operation, Russian forces destroyed 83 Ukrainian military infrastructure objects, four fighter jets, one helicopter and four drones, the spokesman said.

Video verified by The Times showed at least half a dozen Russian helicopters flying west over the Dnieper river toward Hostomel, a town on the outskirts of the capital, with some helicopters apparently attacking Hostomel’s airport. One video released by Ukraine’s armed forces appeared to show at least one of those helicopters being shot down.

As horrific as the first day was, the senior Pentagon official said it was only the beginning. Russian troops seen crossing into Ukraine on Thursday represented only a fraction of what the military had deployed along the Ukraine border, the official said.

Though the Ukrainian army is badly outgunned and outmanned by Russian forces, it did report some successes. The military said it had shot down several Russian fighter aircraft and a helicopter in an increasingly intense battle to maintain control over key cities. Ukrainian troops had also repelled Russian advances on two major cities: Kharkiv, in the northeast, and Chernihiv in the north, a senior Ukrainian military official said.

In Kramatorsk, in eastern Ukraine, about 100 men, ranging in age from their 20s to 50s, turned up at a military recruitment office even as the dull thuds of explosions could be heard from the direction of the town’s military airport.

They packed into a corridor and filled out forms, heeding a call from Ukraine’s defense minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, who asked all able citizens to immediately enlist with the country’s territorial defense units.

“The enemy is attacking, but our army is indestructible,” he said. “Ukraine is moving into all-out defense mode.”

Michael Schwirtz reported from Slovyansk, Ukraine; Eric Schmitt from Washington; and Neil MacFarquhar from New York. Reporting was contributed by Andrew E. Kramer from Kramatorsk, Ukraine; Valerie Hopkins from Kyiv, Ukraine; Ivan Nechepurenko and Oleg Matsnev from Moscow; Helene Cooper from Washington; and Farnaz Fassihi from New York.

Your Friday Briefing: Fierce Fighting Across Ukraine

Good morning. We’re covering the war in Ukraine and a new vaccine hub in South Korea.

Less than a day after Russian forces attacked Ukraine on all sides, setting off intense fighting around the country, President Biden said from the White House that it was a “dangerous moment for all of Europe,” and that President Vladimir Putin of Russia had “unleashed a great pain.” Here are the latest updates, a map of the war and a guide to its causes.

“This was never about genuine security concerns,” Biden said of Putin’s motivation. “It was always about naked aggression, about Putin’s desire for empire.” A U.S. Defense Department official told reporters that Russian military forces were moving to decapitate the Ukrainian government in Kyiv.

The U.S., Britain and NATO allies plan to impose sanctions on Russian banks, leaders, tech exports and elites and freeze trillions in assets. “We have to show resolve,” Biden said, adding that it would take time for the sanctions to make an impact.

U.S. forces are not going to fight in Ukraine, but additional troops will be deployed to Germany and NATO’s eastern flank to bolster defenses. E.U. leaders met in Brussels to talk about more sanctions.

Attacks: Russian forces captured the Chernobyl power plant north of Kyiv, site of the 1986 nuclear disaster. Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Kharkiv and elsewhere. At least 40 Ukrainian troops were killed in the fighting, the Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S. said, along with “dozens” of civilians. She pleaded for help.

In Kyiv: Families told our reporters why they were fleeing and how terrified they felt. “I fear for my kids,” said Anna, whose family was stuck in some of the long traffic columns along roads out of the capital.

In Russia: Thousands took to the streets to protest Putin’s decision to invade, only to be met with a heavy police presence. Others around the world followed suit.

Putin: In a rambling speech, the Russian president reminded the world that his country “remains one of the most powerful nuclear states” with “a certain advantage in several cutting-edge weapons.”

The price of oil jumped to as high as $105 a barrel, European natural gas futures soared 50 percent and global stock indexes fell on Thursday, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine extended market turmoil that had been driven by fears of a full-scale attack.

Wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade were up more than 5 percent as of early Thursday afternoon — together, Ukraine and Russia produce nearly a quarter of the world’s wheat.

President Biden warned on Thursday that Americans might feel the squeeze, but said there was no question that the U.S. and its allies needed to respond aggressively. “America stands up to bullies,” he said. “That’s who we are.”

The impact on financial and commodity markets was immediate and broad, starting in Asia, where the Hang Seng in Hong Kong lost 3.2 percent. In Germany, the DAX index slid more than 4 percent, and the broader Stoxx Europe 600 was about 3.5 percent lower.

On Wall Street, the S&P 500 tumbled 2.5 percent at the start of trading before rebounding slightly as the initial panic seemed to ease somewhat. By midmorning, the index was down about 1.5 percent. The Russian stock exchange briefly suspended trading earlier in the day.

Global impacts: Increases in commodity prices could raise inflation in Europe and the U.S. by as much as 1.5 percentage points in the next few months, Capital Economics, a research firm, said. Parts of the Middle East and Africa receive most of their wheat from Russia and Ukraine, and restrictions could prompt concerns about social unrest.

The World Health Organization plans to establish a training hub in South Korea to teach low- and middle-income countries how to produce their own mRNA vaccines.

The effort, announced on Wednesday, would help mitigate global vaccine inequality and the shortage of skilled workers in the vaccine manufacturing industry, the agency said in a statement.

The move follows the organization’s ongoing effort in South Africa to reverse-engineer existing mRNA vaccines and share the technology with low-income countries, after unsuccessful attempts to have Pfizer and Moderna share their technology. So far, the agency has chosen Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Tunisia and Vietnam to receive mRNA technology.

Here are the latest updates and maps of the pandemic.

In other developments:

Asia Pacific

After a nine-year counterterrorism mission that failed to bring the peace it promised, France announced plans to pull out of Mali after a falling out with its new leaders who had taken over after a military coup.

In Paris, the withdrawal may signal a loss of influence at the core of its former colonial empire. In Mali’s capital, Bamako, the withdrawal may be welcomed and may represent a shift toward countries like China, Turkey and Russia.

But France is not ending what some fear could be a forever war. Instead, the country and its allies will meet in June to discuss restructuring their missions in the Sahel region, which cuts across Africa just below the Sahara. Emmanuel Macron, the French president, has spoken emphatically about wanting to build ties outside its traditional sphere of influence, including with Niger or countries in the Gulf of Guinea.

New priorities will be needed to avoid repeating the Mali quagmire, said Lori-Anne Théroux-Bénoni, who leads research on the region at the Institute for Security Studies. Instead of focusing on neutralizing the leaders of jihadist groups, France and its allies should work to end the conditions that encouraged recruitment, bolster local security and protect civilians, she said.

In the short run, though, this change may further crowd the theater of conflict, as France would need to engage with countries that have stayed out of the sprawling operation.

Googles relaxes mandates, opens amenities for return to office

An Android statue is displayed in front of a building on the Google campus on January 31, 2022 in Mountain View, California. Google parent company Alphabet will report fourth quarter earnings on Tuesday after the closing bell.

Google is dropping some Covid-related mandates for employees and restoring perks back to its headquarters as it prepares to bring workers back to the office.

Google Real Estate and Workplace Services VP David Radcliffe wrote an email to San Francisco Bay Area employees this week explaining that the company is relaxing some rules around vaccines, testing, social distancing, and masks. Separately, a Google spokesperson told CNBC that the company has reversed course and will not require vaccinations as a condition of employment for U.S. workers, but declined to offer further details.

Radcliffe’s note also said that perks such as massages and access to informal spaces in the office will be returning. In the past, Google has been able to attract talent with fun office amenities, but many of those were suspended during the pandemic.

The moves come as the company prepares to require most employees to come into physical offices at least three days a week for a “hybrid” work model, while some other Bay Area tech companies are offering fully remote work options. Google has had to delay its office return several times amid various Covid-19 variant surges, and another surge could change these latest plans once again.

It has almost been two years since Google and other tech companies first sent their employees home at the start of the pandemic. Since then, the labor market has tightened, employees have grumbled about missing perks, and workers have voiced their desire to remain working remotely.

Vaccines, testing requirements relaxed

Radcliffe’s note says Bay Area offices are lifting the testing requirement imposed in January, which applied even to vaccinated employees.

In addition, Google is dropping its social distancing requirement and masks for vaccinated employees in most areas, noting that the few cities still requiring masks are likely to drop them soon.

Google is also reversing course on requiring vaccination for employment for U.S. employees, according to Google spokeswoman Lora Lee Erickson. In November, CNBC reported the company told employees that they must comply with vaccine policies or they’d face loss of pay and eventually loss of employment.

Erickson told CNBC the company dropped the requirement for employment last month after removing the Jan. 18th deadline it had set for employees to either get vaccinated or get exemption approval. She declined to provide further details on the policy or the reasons for the reversal.

Unvaccinated employees who are approved to enter offices will still need to follow additional protocols, including testing and wearing a mask, Radcliffe’s note stated.

Google is following local guidelines to “prioritize the health and safety” of the workforce while allowing flexibility, Erickson said in a statement to CNBC.

“Preparing for ‘hybrid’ and return to HQ

Radcliffe also wrote that the company is reopening amenities like fitness centers without appointment and massages; restoring full shuttle service; adding more places to eat free breakfast and lunch; and opening “all informal spaces” such as lounges, game rooms, music rooms, and massage chairs.

“We’re at the beginning of a journey, so the office experience will feel pretty similar to what it was like pre-Covid,” Radcliffe said. “We’re designing and piloting options to support new ways of working together and we’ll gather insights, data and feedback to help us learn as we go.”

Radcliffe added that in-person business meetings and events are also “ramping back up.”

“We’re giving employees who welcome the chance to come into the office the option to do that wherever we safely can, while allowing those who aren’t ready to keep working from home,” Erickson told CNBC. “Based on current conditions in the Bay Area, we’re pleased that our employees who choose to come in now have the ability to access more onsite spaces and services to work and connect with colleagues.”

The San Francisco Bay Area has the highest concentration of Google offices, with dozens of buildings across several cities in the region, including its Mountain View headquarters. Radcliffe said 30% of Google employees in the area came into the office over the past week, but the return remains voluntary.

The company has still not determined a new date for the mandated return since it last pushed off its Jan. 10th expectation amid the omicron surge. But under a line titled “What Happens Next?” Radcliffe notes that it is preparing to begin its 30-day transition period to the hybrid work week if conditions continue to improve. He said his team is planning “celebrations” to welcome back employees.

‘DWTS’ Star Files For Divorce – Hollywood Life

The actor and dancer have been split up since early in January, according to the divorce documents filed by the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro.

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence have had their last waltz. The 37-year-old professional dancer filed for divorce from the 42-year-old actor in Los Angeles on Friday February 18, according to documents obtained by HollywoodLife. The paperwork showed that the couple had been separated since January 7, and they did have a prenuptial agreement. The pair had been married since May 2019.

Cheryl’s divorce documents from Matthew. (Superior Court of California)

Through their three-year marriage, the pair didn’t have any children. In the divorce documents, Cheryl cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. The couple had first met on the set of Dancing With The Stars in 2006, when the Boy Meets World actor’s brother Joey was a contestant on the beloved series. The pair originally dated from February 2007 until they broke up in 2008. They rekindled their romance again nine years later, in 2017 and got engaged in May of the following year on Cheryl’s birthday.

Despite the split from the Mrs. Doubtfire star, hopefully fans will see Cheryl again in Season 31 of DWTS. The dancer did an excellent job in the last season of the series, finishing in third with her partner, Peloton fitness instructor Cody Rigsby, 34. It was definitely an intense season, especially when Cheryl tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of a September episode of the show. “I feel so bad for Cody. I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s**t, to be quite honest. And it’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday, and the show’s tomorrow,” she said in her announcement.

Matthew and Cheryl had dated briefly from 2007 to 2008, before rekindling their romance in 2017. (Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP/Shutterstock)

Cheryl’s third place finish in season 30, came after yet another busy season for the show’s 29th series in 2020. Filming during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cast and crew had to follow strict rules to try to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. If that wasn’t enough, Cheryl also faced a terrifying head injury during a rehearsal for a number in October 2020 with her partner AJ McLean. Thankfully, she was cleared to perform shortly after the mishap.
